Crochet Privacy Policy
Effective date: 28 September 2026
1. Who we are and what this policy covers
Crochet is an iOS app for people who crochet and knit. It offers a catalog of patterns and video lessons, an assistant you can chat with, a tool that turns a pattern PDF into step-by-step instructions, and a tool that designs a new pattern from a description or a photo. The app is published by Zyveroq OÜ, Estonia ("we", "us"). You can reach us at support@swiftnest.online.
This policy explains what information the app handles, why, who else is involved, how long we keep it and what you can do about it. It applies to the Crochet app and to this website. It does not apply to Apple's App Store or to any website you open from inside the app.
2. How the app identifies you
Crochet has no sign-up and no login. When you first open the app it creates an anonymous account on our server and ties it to the identifier your iPhone assigns to apps from our company (Apple calls it the identifier for vendor). That account is where your chats, uploaded patterns, generated designs and progress are kept. We never ask for your name, email address or phone number, and the app does not know who you are beyond that identifier.
Because the account is bound to the device, it is not carried over to a new iPhone. Your subscription is, because Apple manages it. You can delete the account at any time from Settings inside the app.
3. Information you give us
- Onboarding answers. Whether you crochet or knit, and how experienced you are. We use them to choose what the home screen shows first.
- Chat messages. Everything you type or dictate to the assistant, together with any photo you attach. If you dictate, Apple's speech recognition turns your voice into text on Apple's systems; we receive only the text, never the audio.
- Photos. Pictures you take with the camera or choose from your library, either to ask the assistant about them or to have a pattern designed from them.
- Pattern files. PDF patterns you upload for analysis. We store the file and the page images we render from it so the instructions can be produced and reopened later.
- Design requests. The description, style choices and, if you use one, the web link you paste when asking for a new pattern.
- Projects and feedback. Which steps of a pattern you have completed, ratings you leave after finishing one, and the thumbs-up or thumbs-down you give a pattern page.
- Support emails. If you write to us, we keep the conversation and your email address for as long as needed to resolve the request.
4. Information collected automatically
- Device and app details. The identifier for vendor described above, the app version, the iPhone model and iOS version, and the language your phone is set to.
- Usage events. Which screens you open and which buttons you tap, for example that a lesson was finished or a paywall was closed. These events go to our analytics providers under your anonymous identifier.
- Session replays. For a share of sessions we record how the interface is used, screen by screen, so we can see where people get stuck. A replay shows what was on screen, so content you had open at the time may appear in it. Replays are stored by our analytics provider and are not shared further.
- Crash reports. If the app crashes, a report with the device state and the point of failure is sent to our crash reporting service. Crash reports are not linked to your account.
- Subscription status. Whether you have an active subscription, a trial, or none, the plan, and Apple's transaction reference. We never see your payment card or Apple ID.
- Advertising identifier. Only if you allow tracking when iOS asks, the app reads the advertising identifier and passes it to our attribution partner so we can tell which advertising campaign brought you to the app. If you decline, the identifier is all zeros and nothing is attributed.
- Approximate location. Our analytics and attribution providers infer a city and country from your internet address on their servers. The app never uses GPS and never asks for location permission.
5. What we do not collect
We do not collect your name, email address (unless you email us), phone number, postal address, contacts, precise location, health or fitness data, browsing history or payment details. The app shows no advertising, and nothing you create in it is visible to other users.
6. Why we use this information
- To run the app. Store and show your chats, patterns, designs and progress; deliver the catalog and lessons; unlock paid features when you subscribe.
- To operate the AI tools. Send your request to the AI provider described in section 7 and give you the result.
- To apply free-tier limits. Count how many AI requests you have made so that free use stays within the published limits and subscribers are not limited.
- To keep the service safe. Confirm that requests come from a genuine copy of the app on a real iPhone, limit abuse, and screen messages that break the AI provider's content rules.
- To improve the app. Understand which features are used and where people struggle, using usage events, session replays and crash reports.
- To measure our advertising. Learn which campaigns lead to installs and subscriptions, only when you have allowed tracking.
- To answer you. Respond to support requests and privacy requests.
- To meet legal duties. Keep the records tax and consumer law require of a business that sells subscriptions.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, our legal bases are performance of our contract with you (the app and its paid features), our legitimate interests (security, improving the app, measuring our own marketing) and your consent where the law requires it (tracking through the advertising identifier, and access to your camera, microphone and photo library, all of which you grant through iOS prompts and can withdraw in iOS Settings).
7. How the AI tools handle your content
The assistant, the pattern analysis tool and the pattern design tool are powered by models from OpenAI. To answer a request, our server sends OpenAI the content that request needs: the message you wrote and the recent turns of that chat, a photo you attached, the pages of a PDF you uploaded, or your design description and reference image. Older parts of a long chat are sent as a summary rather than in full.
Before a chat message is processed it is checked against the provider's content rules. A message that fails the check is not answered and is kept in your history marked as blocked so you can see what happened.
OpenAI processes this content as our service provider under its API terms, which do not allow it to use your content to train its models. Results come back to our server, are saved to your history so you can reopen them, and are shown to you. AI output can be wrong; please read the Terms of Use for what that means for patterns you rely on.
8. Tracking and the advertising identifier
When iOS shows the "allow this app to track" prompt, saying no has no effect on any feature. Saying yes lets us share the advertising identifier and the fact that you installed or subscribed with our attribution partner, which matches it against the advertising networks we buy campaigns from. You can change your mind at any time in iOS Settings under Privacy and Security, then Tracking. We do not sell personal information and do not share it with data brokers.
9. Service providers
The following companies process data on our behalf. Each is bound by a contract that limits its use of the data to providing its service to us.
- Apple for the App Store, in-app purchases, speech recognition, the App Attest check that proves the app is genuine, and server notifications about your subscription.
- OpenAI for the AI features described in section 7.
- Google Firebase for usage analytics, crash reporting and remote configuration of the app.
- Amplitude for usage analytics and session replays.
- Adjust for attribution of our advertising campaigns.
- Apphud for managing subscriptions and validating purchases with Apple.
- Cloudflare for the network edge in front of our servers, this website, and the storage that holds your uploaded photos, PDFs and generated pictures.
- Fly.io and Neon for the servers and database that run the Crochet service.
- Sentry and Grafana for error and performance monitoring of our servers. These receive technical details of failed requests, not the content of your chats or files.
10. Where your data is stored, for how long, and how it is protected
Our servers and database run in the European Union (Frankfurt). Files you upload are stored with Cloudflare. All traffic between the app, our servers and our providers is encrypted. Only the small number of people who operate the service can access production data, and only to run it.
Retention works like this:
- Your chats, analysed patterns, generated designs and progress stay in your account until you delete them or delete the account.
- Deleted items are removed from view immediately and permanently erased, together with their files, within 30 days.
- Uploads that never completed are erased after 24 hours.
- Technical logs of AI jobs are kept for 30 days for troubleshooting, then erased.
- Account deletion removes the account from view at once and permanently erases it and everything in it within 30 days.
- Usage events, replays and crash reports are kept by the providers named above under their standard retention windows, which are set to months rather than years.
- Subscription records are kept for as long as accounting and consumer law require.
11. Your choices inside the app
- Delete your account from Settings. This is the quickest way to remove everything we hold about you.
- Delete a chat, an analysed pattern or a generated design from its own screen or from your history.
- Camera, microphone, speech recognition and photo access are granted through iOS prompts and can be revoked in iOS Settings for the Crochet app.
- Tracking can be turned off in iOS Settings as described in section 8.
12. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live you may have the right to know what personal data we hold about you, to receive a copy, to correct it, to have it erased, to restrict or object to its processing, to take it with you in a portable format, and to withdraw consent you gave earlier. People in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland have these rights under the GDPR and its equivalents, and may complain to their data protection authority. California residents have equivalent rights under the CCPA and CPRA, including the right not to be discriminated against for using them. We do not sell personal information and have not done so in the past twelve months.
Because we hold no name or email address, we cannot look you up by who you are. To exercise a right about data in your account, write to support@swiftnest.online from the device that runs the app and include the app version; we will guide you through confirming the account from inside the app. Deleting the account yourself in Settings is the fastest way to erase your data. We answer requests within one month.
13. Children
Crochet is not directed at children under 13, or under 16 where local law sets that age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has used the app and sent us data, contact us and we will erase it.
14. International transfers
Our servers are in the European Union. Some of the providers in section 9 process data in the United States. Where personal data leaves the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland we rely on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK addendum to them, or the provider's certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
15. Changes to this policy
When we change how the app handles data we will update this page and its effective date. For changes that materially affect you we will also tell you inside the app before they take effect.
